    Mike Mallaro, CEO VGM Group, Inc., was elected as Chair of the Grow Cedar Valley Board of Directors and began his term at the annual meeting held July 19 at Grout Museum of History and Science in Waterloo. Mallaro will chair the regional economic and community development organization through the 2023 fiscal year.

    Friday, March 18th is the second funnel deadline for the Iowa Legislature. All Senate bills must pass out of a House committee and all House bills must pass out of a Senate committee to remain eligible for consideration. Any bills assigned to either chamber's Ways and Means or Appropriations committees are exempt from the deadline.

    Legislators came to an agreement last Thursday, February 24, on an income tax cut for Iowans. There have been three proposed bills in front of the Legislature since the beginning of the session and final result is HF2317. Both chambers passed the bill and the Governor signed it on Tuesday.

    February 18th was the final date for Senate bills to be passed out of a Senate committee and House bills to be passed out of a House committee. Any bills that did not make it out of committee, excluding Appropriation and Ways and Means bills, are no longer eligible for consideration. This deadline, referred to as the first funnel, prioritizes legislative actions for the remainder of the session.
